Meet Calissa
CALISSA SMITH, MA, CCC-SLP

Calissa is a speech-language pathologist and proud owner of Sing Play Speak. Calissa has 10 years of experience working with children and their families and over 20 years of experience as a vocalist.

 

After obtaining her master's degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, Calissa went on to work as a pediatric speech-language pathologist in both hospital and private practice settings before starting Sing Play Speak in 2023.

 

Calissa specializes in supporting children with speech sound disorders, language disorders, apraxia of speech, and autism spectrum disorder.

 

Calissa is passionate about utilizing child-led and play-based approaches with children in speech therapy and group classes. Calissa believes in supporting children in a family-centered model.

Meet Maggie
MAGGIE HOBBS, MA, CCC-SLP

Maggie is a pediatric speech-language pathologist with over a decade of experience helping children and their families thrive. 

 

Maggie earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Central Michigan University. Prior to joining the Sing Play Speak community, Maggie worked in both hospital and private practice settings. 

 

Maggie’s clinical expertise includes supporting children with autism spectrum disorders, language disorders, and speech sound disorders. Maggie also has a special interest in pediatric feeding therapy.

 

Outside of work, Maggie is a wife and mom to two young children. She loves spending quality time with family and friends.

Meet Avery
Avery Neale, Speech-Language Pathologist 

Avery is a Speech-Language Pathologist with 14 years of clinical experience. She has spent most of her career in the hospital setting to address speech, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing for both adults and children. 

 

Avery obtained her Master's degree from Central Michigan University. She is highly skilled in aphasia, apraxia, and dysphagia management (difficulties with feeding and swallowing) and routinely conducted Modified Barium Swallow Studies (x-ray videos to assess swallow function). 

 

She is passionate about early literacy for children ages birth to five years! Avery is a big proponent of signing (ASL), singing, and reading to support early receptive and expressive language. Avery believes parents are children's first and best teachers and is focused on supporting parents to optimize their child's communication. Avery and her spouse are parents to two terrific toddlers! She is energetic and engaging and makes learning lots of fun!
